Fake Fiancé

Christmas in New York is her favourite time of year.. or well it was, until her parents called to say they’re coming to stay for the holidays and can’t wait to finally meet her fiancé.. It usually wouldn’t have been a problem, but the major downside was that there’s no fiancé.. she’s as single as one can be. She’s got a great job, finally moved into her new apartment and enjoying life, as a single woman with a cat. The thought of having a man around, warmed her heart but none were interested in her. With her sisters upcoming wedding, she knew the pressure was on to settle down and the words I’m engaged were being blurted our after one too many drinks after endless nagging.

She had her eye on someone, and not just anyone.. her boss. Like that would ever happen. Emotionless and arrogant, he could be the perfect candidate.. Well, there was no harm in asking right?

I understood what he meant and I couldn’t stop thinking about that the whole time he read the story. Slowly I started to doze off sleepily, my eyes heavy.

I looked over and saw her sleeping and smiled. I whispered “I will make it better for you I promise. Then I kissed her belly. “You have a heck of a mummy lily, I’ll do my very best to make her and you proud of me too.”

I woke in bed, not remembering how I got here but I heard my alarm going off and was beyond tired still. The shower didn’t help wake me up, and I needed a coffee badly. I walked out to the couch, and watched him sleeping for a moment. He looked so handsome and peaceful. “Coffee? We could get hash brows and sausage Mc muffins on the drive?”

I jumped up. “Shit, I got to run to my house too I need to get my bag. I meant to get up before you and get coffee and food as well.” I grabbed my head. “Shit I screwed up again. I just couldn’t help watch you sleep a little last night and I forgot the time.” I looked up and saw her look shocked. “And is I just sounded like a creeper.”

“Well I’ve been watching you sleep so I guess we’re both creepy.” I laughed. “We can stop by your place if you want. I’m pretty much ready to go. Just-“ I held my hand up and turned walking fast to the bathroom, where I threw up. Every single morning this still happens. “Yuck.” I groaned coughing more up.

I jumped up and followed her. Not knowing what to do I got a glass of water and a wash clothe then rubbed her back. “This happen a lot?” I just wanted to take care of her.

“Most mornings, some evenings also.” I nodded. Taking the water and spitting it out after I rinsed. “I’m good for the day now.” I blushed slightly.

I nodded. “Okay well let’s get going maybe I can get a quick shower at mines.” I went to go but stopped. “We should take milo!” I didn’t want to leave him at all I loved the damn cat.

“Milo hates cars. I’m going for the night, he’s been alone longer.” I pointed out. “Anyway, I’ve stocked up his food and I’m wondering if you want to take him home with you? Since you’re turning into the crazy cat man.”

I laughed. “If it gets you to come over more often I just may.” Then it hit me. “Wait is it healthy for lily for him to be here?” I didn’t know shit. “I need to get some books or go to some sort of class.” I shook my head. “Sorry I’ll learn I promise before she makes her entrance I’ll know a lot more.”

“Milo needs to not sleep in the same room as her, so when she’s born she will be in my room because I reckon I’ll be up for hours on end to start with and cats can jump into cribs and smother babies.” I just smiled “I have books, you can read them and learn.”

I looked at her. “Maybe he can stay with me till lily is older I don’t want anything to happen to her. Could you grab a book or two?” I was needing to start to read up on everything g now. She webrcand gitvsome And we set off to my place a quick shower and we were on the road to get food and coffee. “So Umm you want me to stay back for the wedding or may I be your Plus one of you don’t have one already?”

I hadn’t told him that my family and his didn’t know we haven’t spoken in months. They all assumed he was just  working and we were still fine. “You can be my plus one. I have my dress there already though.”

I smiled so happy she was letting me go with her. “Oh do I need to coordinate with your dress?” As we sat there in the car I took a chance and grabbed her hand to hold onto. I hoped she didn’t pull away but I wouldn’t hold it against her if she did.

I squeezed his hand. “My dress is nothing to worry about. I’m not in the wedding because I’m pregnant and would steal her spotlight, which is fine. She’s gone all out for this wedding.” Which in a way would have been nice to have. “It’ll be a fun night.”

I smiled. “Dancing with the most beautiful jest pregnant woman there! Hell yes it will be fun.” I squeezed back just thinking of being able to pull her close to me have me shifting in my seat.

“Yeah I may not be dancing all night, these feet are fat and swollen remember.” I pointed over to a Drive thru “can you grab me a vanilla shake and fries please.”

I laughed and nodded. “The. I’ll just have to keep massaging them and they are fat I don’t think anything on you is fat.” I just pulled her hand to my mouth and kissed her hand. I pulled up and ordered her what she wanted and smiled thinking she was so adorable.

I eagerly undone the lid on my shake and dipped the fries in and proceeded to eat them. “Yum, they’re so good!” I looked over “want one?”

I looked over real quick. “Ummm I’m not sure, is it good?” I just didn’t know about French fries and a milk shake it must be a pregnant thing.

“Totally.” I laughed. “So, when I go into labour, am I meant to call you?”

I looked at her. “I would hope to be with you but if heaven forbid I’m not then yes I want to be there wether it’s in the room holding your hand or isn’t the waiting room I want to be there.” I don’t think she realizes what I want out of us.

“Well you can come in, I didn’t get myself pregnant after all.” I wondered what would happen once the baby was here. “I’m also going on maternity leave soon for a while. You’ll need to find my replacement.”

I looked at her. “I need to fire that jerk. Then I need to find someone to help run the place when I’m home taking care of you and lily.” I wondered who would make a good replacement of her and of my right hand man. “I think someone older to replace you even though your really replaceable.”

“You won’t need to take care of us that much, I’ll get the hang of things after a week or two. You won’t need to stop working.” I said as if he was crazy
