Old life... New love..

He lives a sheltered routine life, used to order and schedule. That’s how it’s been since his wife passed. Before she died, they had the same routine and structure. Sex was for pregnancy and straight forward. His children, well mannered and reaching their early teens. 

She’s free spirited and clumsy. Travelling the world one month at a time. Her parents died and left her a trust fund for her to experience life at its best. She knows no schedule, and enjoys living. 

A job takes her to a small town, where she is to take photos of the beauty she finds. Renting a small house next to a large property. She goes over to introduce herself and finds the man less than pleasant.. but it doesn’t bother her and she soon finds herself annoying him for help each day.

How can he let someone new in his life when he had lost his only one. Everything she does, says, wears.. he compares it to her and when they become something more, he finds himself still saying she’s doing things wrongly.. can he let go of his past, and become something more with the future? and when he discovers old diaries in the attic that details a sordid affair with her ex boss, is it too late to see what he could have had.

“Oh this isn’t fair!” I laughed, trying to swim free “there’s 3 boys!” I giggled, tickling them back.

“That means you have to have a girl!”  Kenzie said as she splashed me in the face.  “If Not then you have to keep trying!”  The oldest said.  I looked at Tessa and she lost some color.  “You okay?”

“Yeah I’m good.” Keep trying? He’s already got 3 kids and I’m sure 4 is going to be plenty. “I’m going to lay in the sun for a bit, I think I swallowed some water.” I laughed it off, but felt dazed in a way, I had to tell him just one baby was plenty.

I nodded and splashed with the kids.  After a while we all got out and I made some sandwiches for everyone.  We sat there and ate Kenzie asked questions to Tessa and I got my oldest stating at her chest.  “Chad!”  I said and he snapped to me.  “Sorry Dad, um Why was Tessa’s van moving last night before you to got out of it?”

I looked up at him, and blushed a little “Umm what?” I wasn’t ready for these type of questions. “Oh I was showing your dad something and has to move around a lot and fell over.”

I laughed.  “Umm yeah that’s all I’m a big clumsy guy.” He looked at us then shook his head.  “I just thought you were trying to make another baby already.”  He said and I coughed on the bite I just took.  “Ummm how about getting a animal when we get the house built?”

“Animals are great! Bunnies or maybe a goat?” I threw out there to get the conversation moving from that. “Even a bird.” 

Kenzie pointed to her bathers top “daddy can I get the same for my birthday, i like them.” 

“Me too.” The eldest agreed

I looked at my kids.  “Good grief kids . Kenzie no!  And chad I think it’s time you and I have a talk!”  I shook my head.  I looked at her and felt bad.  “I’m sorry I don’t know what has gotten into them.”

“It’s ok. I’m dry now and I don’t want to burn.” I reached for my dress and stood up putting it back on. I sat back down, still feeling weird that maybe his son was checking me out. “So what else is there to do in the town?”

“Not much of anything we go go later tonight if you wanna look around.”  I smiled.  “Daddy we should take her to Dolly’s since she is eating meat now!  They have really good steak San- oh that’s right you had the rest of daddy’s so you know how good they are.”  Kenzie said

“Yes they’re pretty good. So Dolly’s huh? Well let me know what we’re doing and I can meet you there.” I smiled. I wasn’t sure if he was ok with going public so I would leave it up to him. 

“It was mommy’s favourite place to eat at.” Kenzie smiled “so you will like it too.”

I looked down.  “Yeah, I’m sure you will like it tessa and don’t be silly you can ride with us.”

Chad nudged Kenzie.  “Mum inlybliked it cause Fred was there a lot.”

“Well anyway, sounds good.” I picked up my blt and ate more, but then my stomach felt uneasy and I couldn’t believe this. “Umm-“ I looked around but we were in the damn outdoors. Jumping up, I ran to a large tree, and hiding behind mortified, throwing up.

I watched her run off and got up to go after her.  I heard her before I got there an sknew she was getting sick.  I walked up quietly and rubbed her back.  “Maybe we should get you home and out of the sun Tess.”  I didn’t to ow what to do or say.  I was never aloud to be close to Mary when she was pregnant I was hoping Tessa would share it all with me.

“I’m sorry.” I felt so embarrassed. “I think I might just sleep for a bit, I didn’t sleep much and I’m feeling exhausted and just sick.” Im sure he’s seen this plenty of times. “I can walk back and you guys stay here if you don’t want to leave.”

“Like hell, tessa I would not let you walk back by yourself even if you weren’t pregnant.  The kids well understand and I want to make sure your okay I can’t do that this far.”  I picked her up seeing she lost all color and I didn’t want her passing out.  I carried her the whole way back even though she told me she could walk.  I wasn’t having it.  I took her to the cottage and putting the air on.  “It will cool down in a bit.  Let me get you a cold rag and some cold water.”  I placed her in bed and went to get the stuff.  Once back I smiled.  “Thanks for letting me help, I wasn’t aloud to when Mary fell pregnant I wasn’t aloud to be around much at all.”

“I really appreciate it. I think the first sign I was pregnant was when I woke one morning throwing up and couldn’t bring myself to leave the bed much.” I placed a hand over my stomach rubbing softly. “Something so small causes so much sickness.” I looked up at him “why? I mean why wouldn’t you be able to be with her, it should be something you experience together, takes two to make a baby. The man should be included just as much.”

I sighed and sat down.  “She hated being pregnant, she didn’t want me to see her sick or not looking her best.  Or at least that’s what she said but reading those damn journals it’s because she was seeing him.”  I looked at her. I know she was probably thinking the same thing I was.  “I don’t know if they are mine.  I mean chad looks like me when I was his age, toby looks like my pa, but Kenzie I don’t see me or my family in her.”

I didn’t say much to that “I know, but they are your kids  so don’t even think like that.” I squeezed his hand. “And don’t be afraid to help me, I definitely need it.”

I smiled.  “Can I stay here and rest too?  Or do you want to be alone?” I didn’t want to go I wanted to stay and relax a little we both didn’t sleep good

“If you want. I’ll be sleeping mostly.” I yawned, closing my eyes as the wet cloth was on my forehead. “Wake me when you want to leave.”

I smiled and laid down then pulled her to me.  “Is this okay?”  I whispered she fit perfectly.  She moaned a little and then the next I knew she was snoring softly. And I was on my way to sleep too.

I woke feeling better, my stomach not as heavy and headache gone. I laid there watching him sleeping, wondering how someone could cheat on him. “We need to go check the kids.” I said brushing my hands through his hair

I groaned.  “Mmmm need more sleep. 5 more minutes Tess baby.” I moane dnot fully knowing what I was saying.  I’ve been working so hard lately I needed this.

“Fine, but then you’re getting up.” I laughed kissing his forehead “um I’m going to shower, feel free to join me.” I stripped naked and went to bathroom.
