Once upon a blizzard

One night during the start of a blizzard like storm a woman and her children (one boy and one girl) were traveling to get away from her ex. She had no choice she needed to get away. Her ex wa as abusive drunk who thought he owned her. She drove into a small town and was almost to where she wanted to be when out of no where she hit a deer. Sitting there in the cold not knowing what to do she looked at her phone seeing she only had a little battery left she called for help. The dispatcher said she was lucky that the fire station was close by. A little while later there was a knock on her door. She looked and was stunned by the handsome guy standing there asking if she was okay.

It was late and the snow was coming g down hard when we got a call about a woman and two children stuck on the side of the road. I was pissed that anyone let alone someone with children would be out in this mess. As we got to the scene I knocked on the window Dow and asked the lady if she was okay. She had a light bruise on her cheek possibly from the hit. Her car wasn’t on so those kids were probably cold we needed to get them to the station now.

I nodded not letting her go.  “I’m so sorry.”  I kisse dher Head.  “I didn’t think he would try to find me, I didn’t think to tell you what he looked like, but then again I didn’t know what he looked like.”  I felt stupid.  “Cops are searching for him and I have a team coming over to set up security at the house.”  I sighed.  She was probably going to tell me that she didn’t want me around now.

“I just want to take the kids and go back home. I doubt he will come back again and if security is being set up then I assume everything is ok to go back.” I pulled away, needing to be strong for my kids as they ran over talking about the truck and how cool it was.

I looked st her then kneeled downa Nd smiled “Yeah, did you two have fun.”  I asked and they takes at once telling me all about it.  I glanced up at Jane knowing she would tell me not to come back and I hated that.  She didn’t even want to stay here tonight.

“We should go, it’s not too far to walk from here.” I just felt so stupid that I still couldn’t protect my children from the bad things that I seen to put them through. “We can get an icecream on the way.”

I looked st her.  “Let me drive you please.”  I had to do something but it was obvious she didn’t want me around them.  I was going to beg her when the sirens went off telling me I had to go.

I “be safe, we’ll see you in a couple days.” I wanted to kiss him but he had to leave and everyone was rushing. “We can walk, just let me know when you’re back.” I took the kids hands and walked out to the street, hating that I felt off with him

I sighed and ran to get my gear then jumped in the truck.  I saw them walking and I watched till we were to far.  I did t say anything to the guys I just went to work.  I did what I needed it took a long while to put it out and when we did we realized it was set on purpose.  Fuck we have a arsonist on our hands.  Once back I showered and sent a text -we all made it back safe have lots of paper work cause the fire was set on purpose-  I sent it and didn’t expect her to respond it was late.

I rolled over hearing my phone vibrate and read his message - can’t wait till you’re home. I miss you - I really dad, I felt so lonely without him around. It wasn’t something I thought I would need to feel safe but I did and the missed him like crazy too

I sat there in bed and looked at my phone.  -me to, how are you and the kids?  I’m really sorry about tonight-

- kids are finally asleep. They were too excited about seeing the trucks in action. There’s nothing to be sorry about. I love you - I put my phone up and rolled over tired and just wanting to sleep today away

I sighed.  -love you to-  I sent and laid my head down wishing i would get a call saying they picked up my dad.  I needed to call and worn mum too.  That’s not a conversation I want to have specially while tired but I needed to let her know.

The three days passed slow, but we were looking forward to Bo coming home so he could see the chickens. When the front door opened i was in the laundry doing the washing but heard the kids. 

“Daddy! Quick come outside and look!” Luca squealed grabbing his hand as Reid ran off fast to show him the chickens

They dragged me off to the back when I saw a damn house for chickens.  “What in the world?”  I said looking behind me at Jane.  “When did this happen?” I asked with a laugh.  She was crazy! Chickens a dog and maybe a baby soon.

“Sorry!” I grinned “I couldn’t say no, and fresh eggs. You’ll love it.” I slapped his butt and picked one up “this is yours, the kids called him red, after your truck” o giggled

I laughed.  “Your funny and really red!”  I rubbed the feathers of the hen and shook my head.  “So red these all your chicks!”  I said winking at Jane.  “How are you really?”

“I’ve missed you. Especially at night times.” I wrapped my arms around him tightly. “I’m just relieved you’re home for the next three nights. Plus I’m ovulating so I guess that’s a plus.”

I smiled.  “Mmmm then we have some busy night to make up for don’t we!”  I pulled her to me after putting th hen down and kissed her.  “I missed you too baby.”  I smiled and looked at the kids. “I missed you all.”

“We have to check the chickens every morning for eggs and then we can eat them!” Luca smiled. 

“They’ve been waiting for you to come home and see them.” I didn’t want to let him go, I held him closer. “I love you so much, Bo.”

I smiled.  “I love you to, baby I thought with my dad showing up he would have scared you off from me and you wouldn’t want me around anymore.”  I sighed.  “I’m so glad you still love me.”I kissed her hard.  “Every morning huh!  That’s a lot of work are you up for it sweets!”

“Why wouldn’t I want you around still, your father is crazy and that’s no reflection on you at all.” I looked up at him, as the kids went off playing. “You didn’t leave me when my ex came back. But umm, come to bed with me. Just quickly because I’m dying to get you naked.”

I smiled.  “Now!”  I looked off at the kids, what if they come looking for us?”  I asked not sure if I wasn’t going to be able to give her what she wanted I was to worried about the kids.  “Oh shit we got to hurry baby.”

“It’s ok.” I laughed, shaking my head “we can wait until they’re asleep. You go catch up with the kids, I’ll finish the laundry off.” I kissed his cheek “hope you’re hungry for steak tonight.”

I smiled and kissed her.  “Always.”  I watched her go back to the laundry as I went and played with the kids after a while we went inside to eat and had a good time we watched a movie The it was time for bed.  I helped style them and read a story to them both.  Once I was down I pulled Jane with me to bed.  “God I missed you!”

“Not as much as I’ve missed you. So how’s it feel, coming home to a family after being away at work?” I asked climbing on him and sitting on his crotch. “Is it too much?”

I shook my head.  “Honestly.”  She nodded.  “I love it, I missed you and the kids so much it was breaking my heart.  I don’t like being away it sucks I side to love my time at work it was always nice you know working but also hanging with the guys.  Now I just want to come back here and play with the kids and you!” I gripped her hips.
