Christmas in New York is her favourite time of year.. or well it was, until her parents called to say they’re coming to stay for the holidays and can’t wait to finally meet her fiancé.. With her sisters upcoming wedding, she knew the pressure was on to settle down and the words I’m engaged were being blurted our after one too many drinks after endless nagging.

She had her eye on someone, and not just anyone.. her boss. Like that would ever happen. Emotionless and arrogant, he could be the perfect candidate.. Well, there was no harm in asking right?

“Doing ok?” I rolled my eyes “I’ve been far from ok but I haven’t had time to worry about me.” I placed my cup down and ran both hands through my hair, then glanced at the time “I have to drive to my sisters wedding tomorrow morning, I need to pack.” I just walked down to the bedroom “I don’t know why Eric said I was dating, I haven’t at all.”

I followed her. “You shouldn’t be driving, let me drive you please. I don’t need to go to the wedding but I’d feel better if you weren’t driving.” I was already packed. Fuck I wonder if she told her parents anything. “I’ll sleep in the guest room and we can stop at my place for my clothes.” I sat down on her bed. “I’m not sure either about Eric but I’ll get to the bottom of that too.”

I sat there watching her. “I messed up big time I know but I want to fix it. I won’t stay here if you don’t want me to but please let me drive you or if not me let tony drive you.” I got up and walked over to her. “There is no excuse for my behavior after we married all I can do is make up for it, and apologize every day for the rest of my life for it all.”

I stood there. “I haven’t even thought of my mum, I’ll call her tonight and I’ll be here at 3 with food and tea.” I l Abe’s in and kissed her forehead. “You should sleep.” I wanted to touch her belly I wanted to do a lot more but I wouldn’t till she asked or said it was okay to. “I’ll see you in the morning.”

“You don’t have to drive me.” I said once again as I walked him to the door. “I’m sure you have more important things to be doing than driving me 5 hours across the country.”

I shook my head. “Nope the most important thing is to make sure your safe Georgia.” I sighed stepping to her “I want to be here for you, I wasn’t here for the first 7 months please let me be here not just for our daughter but for you as the husband you deserve.”

I guided her to the couch and sat her down with me.  “I don’t care if he verbally said it or not he is gone I will see to it myself nobody and I mean no one should make you feel that way.”  I sighed knowing I did.  “I’m so sorry Georgia.  I shouldn’t have acted that way I should have stayed I should have been here for you.  If it makes you feel any better I was so miserable over there.  I missed you everyday.”

“Sounds like we have been miserable together” I pointed out, rubbing my stomach “I also missed you more than I ever thought I would. Everyday I thought about you.”

I smiled. “Well let’s not be miserable any more.” I pulled her close and held her. “How about a foot massage?” I asked out of no where just wanting to touch her and make her happy.

“I wondered if you would come back and see that I had a child already, part of me wondered if you would ever return and I expected you to send divorce papers after so long.” I groaned slightly sinking further into the couch “feels amazing.”
