Christmas in New York is her favourite time of year.. or well it was, until her parents called to say they’re coming to stay for the holidays and can’t wait to finally meet her fiancé.. It usually wouldn’t have been a problem, but the major downside was that there’s no fiancé.. she’s as single as one can be. She’s got a great job, finally moved into her new apartment and enjoying life, as a single woman with a cat. The thought of having a man around, warmed her heart but none were interested in her. With her sisters upcoming wedding, she knew the pressure was on to settle down and the words I’m engaged were being blurted our after one too many drinks after endless nagging.

She had her eye on someone, and not just anyone.. her boss. Like that would ever happen. Emotionless and arrogant, he could be the perfect candidate.. Well, there was no harm in asking right?

I sighed. “Sweetheart, Let’s just focus on her us and food not on them.” I hated that she was upset. I pulled up to a burger place and looked over at her. “Wanna go in or get it to go?”

“Can we just get it to go. I’m not in the mood for people looking at us tonight.” I just wanted to shower and put my pjs on.

I smiled and pulled through the drive through ordering a shit ton of food for us. Getting her a extra large shake and fries as well as me some too. As we got to the hotel I got us a room with one bed as that’s all they had. Once we got to the room we ate and laughed as I actually tried the dipping my fries into my shake and loved it.

I went to change but groaned. I had forgotten my pyjamas. “Umm do you happen to have a shirt? I forgot mine.”

I smirked. “Yes I have a shirt you can wear. It just to worn you I only have the one so you going to have to see me shirtless for the night!” I winked and went to my bag to give her my shirt.

“Thanks.” I took the tip and went into the bathroom, taking off my makeup and having a shower. I tied my hair up in a messy bun and pulled the shirt on, which fit but with my belly it came up high thigh for me, and my belly was popped right out. I walked out “so it may be too stretched to have back.”

I smiled. “In that case it’s yours.” It didn’t matter to me at all. “I’m gonna shower. Why don’t you look to see if any good movies are playing that we can rent.” I kissed her head and went to shower. As I finished I brushed my teeth and walked out seeing her laying in the bed. “Find one?” I said laying g downs nd picking her feet up to massage them.

I groaned, couldn’t he see that I wanted him. I’d damn well told them all I was in love with him at the wedding. “You’re right it’s been a long day. We should get some sleep, I’m beyond tired and just want to go home.” I pulled the covers back and over me as I laid down.

I laid there hating how sad she looked. I rubbed my face and got up to get in beside her. I wanted her god did I want her I just didn’t want her to regret.

I didn’t sleep, just laid there staring at the wall as I wondered why he didn’t want me. Was it because my body looked so different. Probably. At 6 am I got up and went to shower, needing to just be home to relax. He was still sleeping. I wrote a note and went downstairs to get breakfast.

When I woke and read the note I felt worst for fear. This poor woman has gone through enough. I showered and dressed to go find her. Sitting all alone looking so sad I hated it. I sat down. “Hey beautiful. How’d you sleep?” I did everything to not make a big deal about her not looking the best she looked beat. “I have a idea once we get back home I want to talk to your doctor and see if something is okay I want to surprise you with something but I have to make sure first.”

“What do you want to talk about?” I asked, stirring my now cold tea. “I really just want to go home and do nothing.” I didn’t even want to work but I couldn’t afford not to. I was mentally drained. I was only thankful he didn’t mention last night because I was embarrassed enough as it was.

I sighed. “I want to do something for you. I just want to talk to the doctor is that okay?” Or did she just want me gone again. I couldn’t tell with her she was hot one minute and cold the next.

“You can talk to him, if that’s what you want to do.” I bought it was strange but I didn’t mind. “Are you hungry? We should be back on the road soon, so we don’t get home late.”

“Just coffee for me.” I said running my toned belly. “Someone had me eating fries and shakes all night and day yesterday!” I winked. “I already put our bags in the car and checked to make sure I got all your stuff. “I’m ready when you are.”

“Oh ok.” I smiled standing. “Yeah the shakes and fries were so good, but I’ve over done my eating this week that’s for sure.” I picked up my bag and followed him. “I’m so tired, did you sleep well last night?”

I shook my head. “No I didn’t it was a ummm hard to sleep.” Pun intended, I thought to myself. “How about you?” It was taking everything out of me not to talk about what happened.

“I think I slept an hour the most. Just couldn’t get comfortable.” More like couldn’t stop thinking about how I was rejected. “Anyway, back in my own bed tonight so I’ll be much more comfortable. I need to call work and discuss maternity leave.”

I shook my head. “Don’t worry about work I’ll take care of it.” I pulled her close. “You okay? I know your hurting g from what your mother and sister blame you for but you don’t do anything wrong it’s not your fault.”

“I’m ok.” I said quietly with a sigh “I’m pretty hurt, mad and embarrassed.” Not just about my sisters wedding. “It’s ok, I’ll get over it and move on eventually.”
