lily suffered something tragic. 

Scared and afraid, she struggles to see the light after a night that went terribly wrong.

I nodded, “of course I will.. I won’t be leaving your side.” I leant in closer, and kissed him softly. “I love you so much. I won’t be leaving you until you’re going home again.”

I held onto her not sure if she meant she would be done with me as soon as I got home because I kept this from her or what. I hated the thought I just got her. I needed her. I wanted her with be by myside forever. “I love you lily.” I said with a yawn as my eyes closed it was so hard to stay awake.

“I love you Gunnar.” I whispered, kissing his chest. I heard his steady breathing and soon my eyes began to close also. I slept until I heard the door open and hushed angry whispers were waking me. His parents walked in and by the looks of it they were fighting. I stood up and shushed them “excuse me” I whisper yelled “how about you show some respect and keep it down. Gunnar doesn’t need you both here nor did he even want me to tell you because he was afraid you’d just fight the whole time. So if you’re going to fight then please just leave and don’t come back. He’s sick, tired and pretty scared. I’m not going to let you hurt him so either stop It or just walk back out that door.” I placed a hand on my hip and sighed “we’re dating, I have full rights to be this protective over him.”

I couldn’t help the chuckle that eacaped. God I loved her.

“We have every right to be here young lady!” His mother spoke. She glared at her ex and sighed. “Just keep you mouth closed and not on other women while we are here! Or I’ll twll your new girlfriend.”

His father rolled his eyes and went to Gunnar’s side. “Hey son sorry about that I’ll behave I just want to be here for you, and also your girlfriend she turned out to be a spitfire just like her mum didn’t she. I’m happy you finally told her and I told you this before you moved.” He sat down.

“She is too young for him!” His mother spat. “And I always knew you were checking out Charlotte! You’re disgusting.”

I half rolled my eyes “oh please, my parents are hot.. like you haven’t checked out my dad.” Even I knew that was likely. “And anyway, we’re not here for them, we’re here because Gunnar needs us, so shush the fights and behave or else.” I winked sitting back down and taking his hand.

I smiled and brought her hand to my mouth. “Thank you my lily pad.”  I said and smiled as my father did but heard my mother scuff.  I rolled my eyes she was not happy but I didn’t care.  I just wanted to slee and hold lily.  But soon the doctor came in and said he wanted another scan and some more test before the morning.

“Would you like anything from the cafe across
The road?” I asked, “I know the food here sucks and I am starving.” I stroked my fingers over his hand.

I didn’t want her to go but she needed to eat. “No I don’t have a appetite right now. But you can get my wallet and get whatever you want to eat.” I kissed her hand and smiled.

“I’m good.” I didn’t want to use his money, and especially not when his parents were staring at me. “I won’t be long.” I kissed him, cupping his face and cheekily slipped my tongue in before pulling away all too soon. I winked and walked out of the room, and found Noah sitting outside. I took one look and burst into tears as he wrapped his arms around me.

As soon as she left my mum started in and I groaned. Hoping they come take me for testing soon.

As I held my little sister I knew she was hurting. “Hey lily he will be okay he is strong. But I think we need to leave a message for Dad and mum let them know I’m sure they will want to be here specially when he is in surgery.”

“Don’t interrupt them.” I sniffed “they’ve dealt with enough lately, they need today.” I pulled away drying my eyes and went to the cafe across the road. I grabbed a large coffee, and almond croissant, also a meat pie and packet of sandwiches with a bag of bbq flavoured chips. I was suddenly starving. I came back, sitting down and noticed them all staring “what’s wrong? Am I eating too loud?”

We all just stared at her.  “Ummm baby when’s the last time you ate?  I’m not trying to be mean but that’s a lot of food.”  I said looking at her brother who was glaring at me.  Shit what did I do.

“Oh please don’t tell me you knocked her up?  God your just like your father!”  His mother stated and stormed off.  

I looked at her confused and I knew there was a possibility but she wouldn’t be showing signs this earlier would she?  I glanced at lily and she was pale.

“What?” And then it finally sunk in. “Pregnant?” I giggled nervously “yeah right, trust me.. I’m not pregnant. Just hungry, everything looked great that I couldn’t decide.” I bit my lip, feeling the heated gaze from my brother. I couldn’t be pregnant. Could I? Shit. “And anyway, our babies would be cute.” I said trying to lighten the mood.

I smiled at her. “Yes they will be, when the time is right. Once you agree to marry me, we get our own place then we can have as many cute babies as you want.” With me being here I didn’t know if we would even get to make those dreams a reality.

Noah shook his head. “If you knocked my sister up and don’t make it through this I will personally bring you back just to kill you again my friend!”

“Oh stop it, I am definitely not pregnant.” I said it seriously but I wasn’t so sure anymore. “anyway, I have law school to attend and Gunnar needs to finish college too. Not for like 10 years do I want kids.”

I smiled. Not knowing if I had that long. “That’s right baby.” I said knowing Noah hated the nicknames. The nurse walked in and smiled then looked at Noah huh that’s interesting. “Sorry Gunnar I have to take you down for test, ummm everyone is welcome to stay here and wait or I can show you to the family waiting room.”

I smiled “can lily at least come with me? I don’t ant her by myside.”

She looked at lily then at me. “Yeah we need to get some X-rays so as long as there is no chance of pregnancy she can be in the room, but if there is a chance she will need to wait outside the room.”

“Well that’s just stupid.” I muttered. I couldn’t even answer that because of our slip up. I hated this. “Don’t worry about me I’m fine, I might go and call mum and dad though.” I leant over and kissed him “I love you. I love you so much.”

I looked at her. Then noticed noah starring he knew something. “Please be here when I get back, I don’t want to miss anytime with you.” I don’t think she knew how serious this was. It worries me specially if she thought I could make it out of this, the chances were slim.

“Of course I will be.” I smiled. “I’m not going anywhere. I promise.” I whispered holding back the tears. I watched them take him away, and I sat down on the chair pulling out my phone. I wasn’t going to call my parents. It needed it to look like I was texting mum. “Don’t you have somewhete to be? Sport or whatever?” I asked Noah.

He sighed. “Lily Gunnar is like a brother to me, I was there when he found out the first time I won’t leave him or you for that matter. Believe me this is going to get harder not just for him but you. I’m worried about you kid.” I walked over and sat next to her. “If he makes it out of this he will be recovering from it for a while, don’t you remember that time we went back tot he cabin and he was gone his parents said he was at some school, he wasn’t he was in the hospital that was almost two years long. I need to be here for you.”

“For two years?” I didn’t expect that. I thought the surgery and then a week later were back home. “I’m not walking away from him. I can’t give up on him.” I sighed wiping away a tear “I don’t know if I’m pregnant.. we slipped up a few days ago.”

He took a deep breath. “I figured that’s why you didn’t go and he didn’t push you to, I see it in his eyes lily he doesn’t think he will come out of this, you know there is a chance he won’t right? A big chance what if you are pregnant what then?” I wanted to be mad I really did but my little sister found something I don’t ever think will and now it might be taken from her it’s not fair not to her or him.

“He will come out of this. There’s no if’s or buts.. I know he will wake up and he will get through this.. he has to!” I said more stronger “he can’t leave me here.. I love him.. he’s going to be ok. He will be ok.” I said again as tears ran down my cheeks. “He can’t die .”

I pulled her to me. “I don’t want him to sis but it’s a chance, just know I’m here for you but I really think mum and dad should be to. That’s your call. I’m gonna go get some more food for you, if you are pregnant then chances are it’s not just one in there!” I laughed. “Boy dad is going to be mad!”

“Can you call them? I don’t want to annoy them on their night out.” I sighed. “And I’m not pregnant, definitely not twins either.” I laughed with a groan.
