I laughed. “Yeah the captain told me she is gone!” I kissed her. “I was so happy when he told me but then he told me I got the job and forgot about it. I mean no more having to stay at the station home ever night with you and the kids couldn’t ask for anything better!”

“Wait, you don’t have to stay there every 3 days?”’I smiled so big “that’s amazing, and I really love that you’ll be home every day.” I kissed him. “We should celebrate, but after I eat. I’m so starving right now.”

I laughed. “You gonna share?” I said and she just gave me a look. “Okay okay I’ll go make myself something. Then we can celebrate.”

“Yes and don’t forget to call the doctor” I said softly bobut my my teeth into the burger with a hungry moan. I was in food heaven right now

I laughed walking out. Once in the kitchen I made a sandwich and called the doc I was happy they said they could come today the kids in school and my mum out doing things made it perfect. I went back up and told her and ate with her. “Keep That morning up and I’ll give you something more to moan about!”

“Oh really?” I moaned some more, purposely. “It’s so good. I haven’t eaten like this for so long, probably never actually.” I finished the last of my shake and stood up, needing the bathroom. I noticed some blood on the toilet paper and my heart sank. I walked out, feeling sick “I’m bleeding. Can we leave now?”

My heart sank. “Yes let’s go.” I called the doctor as we left telling him to meet us there . We got there and she was checked in I was sitting there watching everything not knowing what was going on.

I didn’t want to cry, but I had expected this. I laidnthere with my shirt up, unable to look at Bo as they placed the ultrasound on my stomach and turned the tv on “ok I can see where the bleed is coming from, it should be finished soon.. heartbeat is still strong. Since the last scan the pregnancy has moved along well, measurements are good for being 14 week. I’m was going to say the bleed was due to sitting down and a build up of old blood that just decided to come out as you moved around, but-“ she paused and moved aside “I’m sorry it was the loss of a fetus, you were pregnant with twins.”

I was sitting there in shock. “So one baby is still doing okay? Is there something she should be doing, I’ve been so worried I tell her to relax all the time is that a bad thing?” I was so confused. But the baby was growing good.

“I’d advise against any heavy lifting or running around, you can continue with day to day activities. Just make sure you don’t overdo it. If you’re tired, then rest. Your body will tell you what to do.” She smiled “I’m aware you want to protect her and with the previous miscarriages, but if she’s going to loose the baby then nothing can stop that unfortunately, not even resting and doing nothing.” She printed out a photo for them “I’ll see you again every week for the next month.”

I looked at Jane. lare you okay?” I didn’t know if she was or if she was upset. She didn’t say a thing yet and it was scathing me

“I’m ok.” I said quietly. I was still tying to process this. We walked outside and I looked up at him “twins ay, would have been full on and amazing but I hate to say that I’m relieved we still have a healthy baby who seems to be doing really well.” I felt terrible for being happy I was still pregnant. “Three babies, one day we’ll meet them again. I know your brother is watching them for us.”

I pulled her to me. “Your not terrible because I feel the same way.” I kissed her an dplaced my hands on her belly. “I love you baby no matter what.”

“I guess we need to start looking for a house, and setting up a nursery” it was definitely starting to feel real. “And we should tell the kids they’re going to have a sibling soon.”

I smiled. “As much as I want to I think that should wait, I’m so scared that if we do then something will happen. Let’s take it step by step let’s find a home and go from there.” I felt bad but I was scared.

“Oh.” So he didn’t have much hope for this baby either. “You’re right. No point doing anything.” I couldn’t help but feel disappointed because I just wanted him excited and happy but he wasn’t.

I sighed. “I love you, you mean everything to me and I just feel if we tell the kids and set up a nursery and if something happens then I’ll see you more sad and I don’t want that so let’s wait till the doctor says we can stop going every week then we tell the kids!”

“Ok Bo,” I said slightly annoyed. “We can just pretend I’m not pregnant and wait until I bleed again.” I got in the car refusing to look at him. “This isn’t how I imagined being pregnant with you.”

Shit what was I thinking. “Jane I’m so sorry I didn’t mean anything, I’m so happy that we are pregnant I want to jump up and down and shout it off a roof top but I’m also scared too. I’m sorry baby I am. We can do whatever you want.”

“I get you’re scared because I am as well, but I have a good feeling about this pregnancy. It feels different than the others and I know we just lost another child but we have one growing, she’s got a strong heartbeat and the doctor said everything is looking fine. If we loose the baby, yes it will hurt but I don’t want to regret not being excited.” I placed my hands over my stomach and gazed down “I know in my heart this pregnancy will be ok, I can feel it. She’s going to grow stronger and be the one to make you a father of your own blood.”

I placed my hand over hers and looked at her.  “I’m truly already a father blood or no blood.  But I understand what your saying and I am excited Jane I’m so excited.  I’ve been trying to hide it in fear of hurting you or someone finding out. If your wanting to tell the kids then I’m okay with that but they well tell others you know!”  I leaned in a kissed her.  “I love you and I have a good feeling to, wait?  Did you say girl?” I don’t remember the doctor saying we were having a girl!

“I have a feeling it’s a girl, I just know that it is.” I smiled at him, and placed my hand over his “I love you Bo, and I want the kids to know, and yes I know they’ll tell others and I’m ok with that. I’m almost 4 months, my stomach is showing and soon I won’t be able to hide it. How about we wait until the next scan, and if everything is going well then we tell people?” I asked hoping he was ok with doing that.

I leaned over and kissed her. “Okay we can do that. But for now you hungry want to stop and get something to eat?” I already New the answer to this she was always hungry now.

“Starving. I want mine to be extra large whatever we have.” I couldn’t believe how much my appetite had changed. “Oh before I forget, we need to see the lawyer too. He keeps calling but I haven’t been able to go anywhere.”

I nodded. “About the fire?” I aske dknowing that had to be it I didn’t know what else it could be. “Call him back and we can go after lunch!”
