Old life... New love..

He lives a sheltered routine life, used to order and schedule. That’s how it’s been since his wife passed. Before she died, they had the same routine and structure. Sex was for pregnancy and straight forward. His children, well mannered and reaching their early teens. 

She’s free spirited and clumsy. Travelling the world one month at a time. Her parents died and left her a trust fund for her to experience life at its best. She knows no schedule, and enjoys living. 

A job takes her to a small town, where she is to take photos of the beauty she finds. Renting a small house next to a large property. She goes over to introduce herself and finds the man less than pleasant.. but it doesn’t bother her and she soon finds herself annoying him for help each day.

How can he let someone new in his life when he had lost his only one. Everything she does, says, wears.. he compares it to her and when they become something more, he finds himself still saying she’s doing things wrongly.. can he let go of his past, and become something more with the future? and when he discovers old diaries in the attic that details a sordid affair with her ex boss, is it too late to see what he could have had.

Was he about to say love? Nah, course not!! I wasn’t that loveable. I walked over to the baggage helped the kids finds theirs. Taking hold of Kenzies hand as we walked out and caught a cab. I pointed out some sights and told the boys we were going to visit LEGO land while here. I had something special planned for kenzie and I, a trip to the nail salon at the spa in the hotel. Once we checked in, we took the elevator to the top floor “Umm so don’t faint when you walk outside ok, but the view is amazing and remember you can’t fall.” I smiled, not wanting to show too much affection invade the kids grew uncomfortable again. “Hey kids, your room is down the hallway, then you can open that red door.” The redness door was the massive indoor play room for them.

“How about I close my eyes and you just pull me along?”  I groaned knowing I wasn’t going to like this one bit.

I took his hand and pulled him towards the bedroom with his eyes closed, I opened the sliding door so there was a breeze, and I pushed him backwards so he fell onto the bed. I burst out laughing “Sorry I had to!

I was so freaked out I opened my eyes and glared at her.  “Your so lucky I lo-um like you!” I grabbed her and pulled her to me and kissed her.  “So that’s what it’s called when you make love on a plane?  The High club or something like that?”

“Mile high club.” I grinned into his neck “I like you too. Just remember there’s nothing to be scared about. I mean, you live in a two story house and flew on a plane which is way higher than this building.” I slipped my hand down his jeans “i can’t believe you screwed me on a plane. Dirty man.”

I laughed.  “Baby, you asked I just delivered!”  I kissed her.  “But let’s not start right now I kind of rushed to get to the airport I’d like to sit and talk to the kids but we will be finishing this later okay?”

“Sounds good, I’m going to take a shower and then order food. Your baby is starving.” I grinned, pulling away from him. “Go talk, make sure they’re ok and then go outside and look at the view.”

I laughed.  “No way in hell am I going out there I’ve been on one to many death traps today.”  I kissed her and smiled.  Going to find the kids once I did I smiled.  “Don’t be mad we needed this okay!”  I said to them.  “How’s your rooms?”

“It’s ok dad. We like Ava now. She gets us cool things.” Kenzie beamed.

“She was mad because she didn’t want to share you but we explained that you love Ava and are happy with her.” Chad said. “So she can live with us so she isn’t alone when we go back home.”

I smiled and hugged them.  I noticed I didn’t want to correct them when they said love.  “Yes Tessa mean a lot to me like you three do, but Tessa doesn’t want to live in a house that we shared with your mum it’s not fair to ask her to live there either that’s why she is in the cottage and till we get the other house built that’s probably how it’s going to be and there will be times I stay there with her but I’ll be sure to never stay during storms or we can all stay with Tessa in the cottage then because she doesn’t like storms either. I’ll also always be home before you wake!” It’s not like it was fair and they were old enough to know better.

I took a shower and dressed again, making myself a hot tea I went outside and laid on a lounge chair. His friend came over and started talking to me. “Do you love him?” He asked. I looked, not saying anything. He said again “ok, well I know you love him. It’s not half obvious he feels the same when he’s doing things for you that Mary couldn’t even get him to do.” That did make me smile “I like him a lot. I won’t ruin anything by saying the other L word.”

“Can we go swimming dad? What’s for tea? Are you sleeping with us tonight?” Kenzie asked

I smiled.  I don’t know about What’s for tea, we can ask Tessa that and the swimming question but no Kenzie I won’t be sleeping with you kids, I’ll be with Tessa in our room but if you need something you come and knock baby and I’ll be there for you.” I said and she smiled. “Let’s get Tessa and ask what the plans are okay!”

“She’s outside” Chad grinned. “Come on dad, you’re acting like a wuss in front of her. You need to be the strong man otherwise she will think you’re weak.” He rolled his eyes. 

“Dad is scared and he is allowed to be!” Kenzie looked at her dad “It’s ok dad. You stay in here.” And she ran off “Tessa are we allowed to go swimming? Can we have anything to eat?” 

I sat up, smiling as she ran out to me “of course, Umm you can go in the pool but only with an adult around so I’ll go get my bathers on too.” I stood, realising their dad wouldn’t come out because of the height. “Oh, and I ordered food for us. Just some burgers, but the fridge and pantry is full of food, I asked them to stock up with snacks so you didn’t get hungry.”

I smiled she was so good and thoughtful with them even after the way they acted.  “Yeah Umm swimming sounds good as long as I don’t have to go anywhere near balconies.  I said looking at chad.  “And buddy just because I show some fear doesn’t remain Tessa is going to Theo n I’m a wuss and that I’m not strong.”  I shook my head man this boy he knows too much already.

“No she’ll just think of herself as the man in your relationship and you the woman.” He winked back. “Anyway the pool is over the balcony, better stay inside grandpa.” He grinned and went to change. 

I walked out in my bikini and a towel “it’s a shame, I would have loved to get in the hot tub with you but I can’t and well you can’t either.” I wrapped my arms around him “maybe when we’re alone and I’m not pregnant we can take a trip away together.”

I smiled.  “Wait chad wasn’t kidding about the pool?”  I started to shake.  “Umm yeah we can get away as long as we stay on the ground.”  I kisse dher to stop thinking about the pool.  I wouldn’t be able to go I would freak.  But what chad said hit me and I didn’t want her thinking that way.  “Umm you don’t think I’m a wuss because of my fear do you?  Or you don’t think of yourself as the man in our relationship and I as the female cause I’m have a silly fear?”

I just laughed, what the hell was he on about. “Stay inside, you can write or take a nap. It’s ok.” I kissed him again. “I’ll be in the pool with the kids. Don’t stress, I’ll keep a close eye on them I promise.”

I nodded but she didn’t answer me.  “Your to good, but seriously will you think that way because I have this fear? No need to know Tess!”  I was just so worried now.

“No I mean it’s fine, I am not expecting you to come outside but then again I don’t know how this will work.” I mean the gallery was in a rotating restaurant. “Your kids need watching, I’ll be outside with them and josh.”

I nodded. “Sorry Tess I’m trying here, if I get groggy I’ll come out or try to.” I said and kissed her. “But maybe where my T-shirt in the pool!”

“Why wear a tshirt?” I asked confused. “Look, it’s clear you’re afraid so please don’t come out there. You’ll only worry yourself over it and I would hate for you to faint or pass out.” I kissed his cheek and walked out where the kids were waiting for me. I took photos of them with my underwater camera and they took some of me. Then we played a game where chad had Kenzie on his shoulders and Josh put me on his and we had to knock the other over. We were having so much fun. I just wished Greg wasn’t afraid, and wondered if Chad was right, in a way I hated that he was. I wanted a strong man, not one who’s afraid of things.

I sighed and put on my swim trunks and went to the pool I was shaking but I had to or I had a feeling I’d loose her. I took a deep breath and opened my eyes and I didn’t like what I saw and it had nothing to do with my fear of heights. There in the pool having a good old time was josh and Tessa. They didn’t see me and I was glad for that I turned and walked away. I was so upset. I went to the room and poured me a drink and waited. Once I heard the laughter coming from all of them I was already in my 5 drink.

I left them in the pool, still laughing from being pushed over by the kids. Walking into the room I noticed him drinking “Umm why are alone in here drinking?” I asked drying off more. I noticed his eyes and frowned slightly “how much have you drank?”

“How much fun did you and josh have?” I asked with a little bit to it. “Before you answer you might want to think about it? Because I saw him with his hands all over you. If you don’t want to be with me tel me now because I will not be cheated on again!”

Ok so he Was partially drunk. “Yes he had his hands on my because we were playing a game. What’s your problem?” I was hurt with what he was saying and accusing me of. “I don’t care if you saw us, we werent doing anything wrong.”
