He lives a sheltered routine life, used to order and schedule. That’s how it’s been since his wife passed. Before she died, they had the same routine and structure. Sex was for pregnancy and straight forward. His children, well mannered and reaching their early teens. 

She’s free spirited and clumsy. Travelling the world one month at a time. Her parents died and left her a trust fund for her to experience life at its best. She knows no schedule, and enjoys living. 

A job takes her to a small town, where she is to take photos of the beauty she finds. Renting a small house next to a large property. She goes over to introduce herself and finds the man less than pleasant.. but it doesn’t bother her and she soon finds herself annoying him for help each day.

How can he let someone new in his life when he had lost his only one. Everything she does, says, wears.. he compares it to her and when they become something more, he finds himself still saying she’s doing things wrongly.. can he let go of his past, and become something more with the future? and when he discovers old diaries in the attic that details a sordid affair with her ex boss, is it too late to see what he could have had.

Chad looked at us and said.  “Wait So your leaving us like my mum did? All because my dad is afraid of heights?”  I looked at him and shook my head. “No buddy she has her photos displayed and asked us to join her to New York.  And if she wants us too we will be going and I’ll I’m deal with my fear for her.”

It hurt me that he compared me to his mother, I mean I felt like I was kicked in the stomach and I was surprised he let him speak to me that way without thinking it was rude. “I have a job, just like your father. And no, If you’re afraid of heights then I won’t put you through that. Everywhere is practically on top of a building.”

I nodded.  “Your not putting me through it I am, I want to support your work, I want to go.”  I looked at her and then at chad.  “Don’t you think you should say something?” He looked at me then at Tessa.  “I’m sorry Tessa i shouldn’t have been rude to you.”

“Just think about it, I mean we have to take a plane there too and I really don’t want to make you faint or anything.” I looked at Chad “I’m not leaving, I’m here. You don’t have to worry-“ I then frowned slightly saying to Greg “wait, their mum died, why would he make it sound like she took off?”

I sighed and before I could answer chad did.  “Mum was leaving us that night, I heard her tell Dad she couldn’t be there anymore couldn’t live there with him and that she wasn’t coming back-“ I stopped him there.  “It was raining really bad that night and her car went off the side of the road and she hit a tree wrapping her car completely around it dying instantly.”

I just stared, unable to process it. “I’m sorry.” I felt terrible. “Umm we should go home, it looks like a storm is coming in.” I pointed to the dark sky. “I have washing on my line.”

I nodded and Calle she kthers to come along.  We got in the car and got home just in Time I ran to help her and laughed the whole time.  We got soaked as we brought the last of her wash in. “Sorry if you want I will rewash these when I do mine?”

“No it’s fine, I won’t mind washing them.” Christ he’d have a heart attack washing my underwear. I was drenched. “We should definitely dry up tho.” I laughed, taking off my wet shirt. “Do you need to go back to the kids right away?”

I smiled “Nah not right away.  But I was thinking or hoping you’d like to come back with me and watch a movie?”

“Oh Yeah sure.” I nodded “I’ll just change, I won’t be long.” Maybe he just didn’t find me attractive anymore. “Just Wait here.” I said going down to the bedroom and changing in sweats and a jumper. No point in making an effort with my appearance. “What movie are we watching?”

I stood there.  “Oh uh it’s doenst matter to me anything good we can find.”  She was in sweats and she still looked beautiful.  I sighed. “You sure you don’t want to bring some clothes in a bag with you I mean it’s still raining pretty good and your just going to get soaked again, unless you just want to borrow some of mine although I think Kenzie’s would fit better.”

“She’s 8, I’m not that small.” I looked out the window and noticed it was. “Umm actually can we do the movie another night? I just remembered I have to call my boss and I should probably get an early nights sleep. I’m pretty tired.”

I was bummed out.  “Oh um okay.” I kissed her cheek.  “If you need anything just let me know if you have a weird craving in the middle of the night call me I’ll run out and get whatever you want.”

I nodded, not knowing what to say. “Thankyou.” I was totally disappointed. He didn’t even kiss me anymore. “I’ll see you tomorrow, unless I’m craving something weird.” I just smiled. “I’ll let you know about New York, but only if you’re sure of this.”

I smiled.  “I am Please I’ll deal with my fears.  I want to experience this with you.” I kisse dher and smiled.  “You sure your okay? I mean if you don’t want me to go or need space tell me, if I’m not doing something right tell me.”

“No I want you to come, of course I do.” I smiled. “There’s photos of you, or makes sense that you come too.” I wrapped my arms around him hugging. “Also, Umm I’ve heard the kids mention having more kids.. I’m going to be happy with just this one, I don’t need anymore.”

“Oh.” I said a little disappointed.  I wanted her but she just told me no.  “I see, um okay well call me if you need anything, anything at all.”  I kissed her one last time and it was longer and more passionate than I met but after she just told me that I thought I could change her mind.

We broke away and I looked at him, confused because I was getting so many mixed signals from him. I said goodnight and went to call my boss, asking about the kids coming and he was fine with it. I laid in bed, still touching my lips. I couldn’t sleep so I sent him a message wondering if he was up working - are you ok to leave in a couple days? -

I laid there wishing she was here with me.  I felt my phone and looked.  “-Yeah that will be fine, are you okay need anything?-  I wanted her to say yes just so I could go over and see her again.

I laid there reading his message. Did I need anything? Yes. - why won’t you touch me anymore? I’ve made so many attempts to be with you intimately but you won’t. Is it because I’m pregnant and you’re turned off? - I had to know.

I read her message and sat up . What the hell?  I didn’t respond I just got up and walked over there.  I knocked and waited then said fuck that it’s technically my place I walked in she should have that locked dammit. As I got to her bedroom I looked at her.  “What are you talking about?  Wasn’t you there in the shower this morning I get so turned on when around you it your pregnant I don’t want to hurt you or the baby.” I said how could she not know this.

“I wanted to have sex in the shower and you walked away. I wanted to have sex tonight and you again, walked out. I’m not going to be hurt. How can you not realise that? That’s why I’m pulling away, I mean I don’t want to spend my whole pregnancy feeling lonely. That’s how I’m starting to feel.” I said sadly and wondering is this why his late wife cheated

I looked at her.  “But the baby could be hurt can’t he or she?” I said so lost.  I wa s always told this. “I was told that having sex could hurt the woman and the baby.”  I told her.  I was so confused.  “And your pulling away?  We have barely begun a relationship and your already giving up?”

“You don’t even attempt to go down on me. It’s like straight forward sex and that’s it. I want more, I mean I haven’t experienced any of this and I at least want to try it. You’re being really selfish, you told me to keep the baby and then tell me we’re not to have sex. You told me not to leave otherwise you wanted the baby.” My head was going to explode. “We haven’t got a relationship because I feel like I’m being patented by you. And you can’t be serious, sex is one recommendation for bringing in labour when it’s time. All the books say sex is completely safe unless you bleed.”

I felt like a idiot.  “I-I”. I didn’t know what to say.  I looked at her.  “So sex is okay? And you want more than sex? You want me to go down on you?”  I asked like a stupid ass.  “I never have gone down on a woman, what if I do it wrong and humph hate it?  What if I ruin that for you like I did your first time having sex.”  I was so scare I wouldn’t be able to please her at all.
