“I don’t want to talk about this anymore.” I sighed, feeling like we were about to argue. “Why is there three different packs in the family? Why can’t you all join one and just get along.”

"That's not a good idea, for centuries our packs have been fighting for power, until my grandpa made a truce with yours. Hunter's pack was left out of that truce. There was a feud between his ancestors and your dad's. So even if Steven wants to make a truce with Hunter, his pack will turn against him. It's all about boarders and lands and who will rule. We're lucky we only have 3 packs here, california has so many more and they always fight."

“Well you’d think you would all get along for the sake of it.” I said, “i mean we have three alphas from each pack having dinner together often and nobody- actually that’s not true, you all argue still.” I laughed, glad he had stopped asking about the boys

I laughed with her "we argue because we have have a different perspective. Your father hates my guts because i tainted his precious innocent angel, and i hate that he keeps meddling in our family affairs, and always tries to control the boys. I'm glad there away just so he doesn't affect their choices in life. As for Hunter, i was against him being with Willow at first, I mean... it's my Willow we're talking about. But he's a good man, and I know he'll keep her happy. But your dad hates him as well... actually steven hates everyone. Except Ally, and you"

I laughed, letting out a belly laugh “my dad likes Jason too, don’t forget him.” I added. “He used to like Hunter, and then willow fell pregnant and they were married within three months of dating so that’s when dad hated him.” I frowned for a moment “do you think they left to get away from his meddling or because of him?”

"He likes my dad because he never wanted anything to do with the pack, he was a lone wolf. He even joined your dad's pack I'm bot sure how the council let me take my rightful place as Alpha after what jason did. Leaving your pack for another one is a big deal." I shrugged "I don't know why they left. But knowing he can't control them makes me feel better"

“Let’s not think about this too much, I’m worried about Willow though. Maybe all of this is too much for her. She’s still so young, she hasn’t lived outside of working for you and maybe everything is becoming too much.” I squeezed his leg softly

"We're almost there. I know she can take care of herself, she's as strong as you are"

“Then you should be proud of how she’s been raised and that she still comes for you whenever she needs to talk or help.” I leant in and kissed his cheek “you’re in incredible father, so focus on that and once she’s ok we can relax.”

"Yes I am proud of her. And of Nate, he changed so much in the past weeks, it's like he's grown several years at a time"

“That’s because Nate is a big mamas boy.” We had wonderful kids. But I couldn’t shake off the feeling that something was really wrong. “You taught him well about the pack and made him earn it before he took over. Not just given to him.”

[Demona]

"Of course, if I wasn't a hundred percent sure he was ready for the responsibility I wouldn't even have suggested it. He will be a great alpha, greater than me" I said parking the car in front of the lake house. They aren't alone, I think Hunter's brother is here" just then Cane walked out of the house, shifted and ran towards the woods "quite a show" I chuckled "his mother is here as well"

“I’ll never get used to seeing a wolf like that.” I said, gripping his hand tightly. “It still seems surreal.” We began walking up the stairs and was greeted by Hunters mother who held Ryder and passed him over “they’ve had a big day, a human was attacked by a rogue, he’s turning but he also has his wife and newborn staying in the pack house. Willow and Hunter went to take a nap, are you staying the night?” She asked looking at mason

"Yes lily said. We just came to see how she's doing and if they need any kind of support. We'll wait a bit and if they don't come out we'll leave and cone back tomorrow"

“Stay for dinner, please. We have plenty of rooms here.” She said, leading them inside. “It’s been one crazy day here.. your daughter and cane haven’t stopped arguing, i think somebody misses work.” She laughed at mason

Mason chuckled "yes she does miss being in court that's for sure. Cane must be giving her a hard time otherwise she wouldn't be too pushy"

“Maybe this is what you felt?” I suggested, giving his shoulder a squeeze. “Oh Ryder you’re growing so fast.” I moved to the couch as he let out an excited squeal and clapped.

“The boys are here!” I dropped my dish cloth and ran towards the front door, screaming in excitement as the three of my boys were finally home

“Mum chill!” Jake groaned laughing “we’re here for a few days.”

“Few days? What do you mean? You’re not going back are you?” I stepped back looking at mason with a frown

"Look who decided to come and see their parents. If it weren't for your mother you wouldn't even be here. I'm not one for beating around the bush so I'll ask right away. Where the hell were you boys?"

They glanced between themselves and looked nervous “you mean, you actually didn’t know?” Jake said

“No we didn’t!” I said rolling my eyes. “Tell your father the truth now, enough of these lies. You haven’t spoken to him this whole time.”

“I don’t want grandpa to flip out, he’s scary.”
Tanner said with a sigh. “But he sent us on missions to go undercover as rogues in other packs and that’s why we couldn’t, we couldn’t risk our cover being blown. He needed some information and said if we didn’t do it, he’d banish us.”

[Demona]

A growl escaped my chest as I glare at Lily "banish you? You're not even part of his pack! You're part of the Nightshade's pack! He has no say in there!" I turned back to Lily "see? I told you I had a feeling he was involved. Why in the world would he risk his own grandsons when he has a damn latge pack at his beck and call!"

I was shaking from the growl mason had let out. I’ve seen him mad but never like this. “I’m- I don’t..” I always defended my dad but I had nothing to say right now. “What are you going to do?” I was almost afraid to ask.

“Yeah but he said he’s got more authority because his alpha status out ranks yours so we had to do what he said.” Colt added. “I wouldn’t have agreed to it if I knew you didn’t know.”

“And Jason checked in with us weekly, he was the one who made sure we wouldn’t be caught by joining another pack and gathering intel on how they operate.”

Tanner sighed “he’s going to merge all packs and run the lot.”

"Jason! You mean both your grandpas used you? His rank doesn't out run me!" I took in a deep sigh and let it out "Nate is your Alpha. Neither jason nor steven. You take orders from Nate! You should be there with him running your pack!" I couldn't control my breathing as my body started to shake. The boys probably caught on what was happening as they took a step back "what I am going to do?" I looked at Lily "I'm going to do what I should have done a long time ago!" Colt opened the door and i ran outside shifting while running.

“Your dad is right, you don’t take orders from them. You will run your pack with your brother otherwise you will not shift again.” I said with so much hurt. “Willow is pregnant, they’ll be coming for dinner later tonight. Go and rest up please.” I sat outside on the porch hoping mason returned soon.

I ran for a good hour taking my rage out and only went hone when I was calm enough. I shifted and saw Lily sitting on the porch "I'm sorry you had to see me like that. But what they did is unforgivable. And I'll make sure they understand that tonight"
