Emma used to be a star soccer player. Then, on the night before the championship, she crashed. Four friends plus her in a car. All were having fun, but then a drunk crashed into them, only her. One other survived, if that's what you'd call it. She was paralyzed from the waist down. Now she needs therapy and pick me up. Will thee new kid be any good?

"Sure" I reached up to grab her books, without realizing she was staring at me.

I watched him quietly. I looked down when he turned to me.

"Here " I handed them to her . "Can I help you with anything else ?"

"I should be fine for now." I said as I made sure I had everything before closing the locker.

I looked at the time and sighed. School.

I woke up early that morning , before my alarm sounded. I took a quick shower , then I got dressed. I decided I would prepare me some toasts for breakfast with coffee.

I ate my cereal before I had to get on the bus that ran through my area. My mom couldn't take me now because she had to work.

I also prepared some toasts for Emma . I had learned , during the two previous months, that she usually skipped breakfast, which made her very hungry later. With my back on my shoulder, I walked to school. It was close to where I lived.

I put the break on my chair so when the bus moved it wouldn't roll around and went to school. When I got there I went to my locker.

"Hey , there, stranger" I smiled as I stood next to Emma. I reached to help her with her books and placed the bag of toasts on her lap.

I jumped and looked at him. Then I smiled. "Hey, thanks for the breakfast, again." I said. Once a week I ate cereal at home but didn't tell him because he always brought breakfast so I felt bad.

I smiled at him. "Thanks," I said and began to eat it.

"No need to thank me " I said .

"Of course I do, you don't have to do this and yet you do," I said.

"So any special plans for today?"

"Not really , Em. What about you ?"

"Same here, my mom has to work late so I have to take the bus and stay home since I can't drive anymore," I said.

"I could drive you somewhere , if you wanted to go out " I commented , looking at her.

"Well it's up to you, you are the one driving, it's a lot of work to transport me," I said.

"I know, but that's what friends are for " I added.

"I don't know, most of the stuff I do is girly, and probably boring. So unless you can provide a fun place for us both." I said.

"I'm not into very girly stuff, but we could find something that works for both. What about the park?"

"That's fine," I said.
