“We haven’t had one since colt died, I thought that maybe it’s time for you to have a furry friend again.” I let him go, and he eagerly ran over his new daddy. “Happy birthday Tanner,” I just loved seeing him smile and happy.

I looked at her. “That’s a little earlier isn’t it?” I mean she use to wear her pants up till she was 6 months with no problem but she is barely pregnant and is having issues. I scratched my head.

“I’m thinking maybe my body just knows it’s oregnant and is bloating our, or the late night chocolate eating is catching up with me.” I tried to make light of it. “I’m not too sure, but I have a bump.”

I nodded with how much she was getting sick I didn’t get it. “We will find out later today till then let me get Lenny and get him to eat.”

“Thanks.” I smiled. I fed willow and dressed her, Tom was ready to babysit as we drove to the doctors office. I couldn’t help but laugh “here we are again.” I rubbed his thigh but I was so nervous.

I smiled. “Yes we are. I didn’t think we would ever be here again.” I didn’t mean anything by it, it was just the truth and I was nervous for some reason. As we waited and the doctor came out looking at us. “Really? Didn’t you get fixed boy?”

“Turns out the doctor done a great job of that.” I rolled my eyes, and laid down on the bed with my shirt up. My belly poked up as I laid there.

The nurse smiled squirting gel on her stomach. “Your first?” She asked.

I snorted “try ninth.”

“Oh my god really! Wow! You look great, I wouldn’t have guessed..” she ran the scanner over her stomach and stared at the screen “nervous daddy? You look it!” She winked “aww look at that! Two little heartbeats!”

I jumped up. “Two? No no no there is only one!” I looked at the screen and sure enough the sound came through fuck. This is definitely the last one. I was upset but not with char or the babies but the damn doctor. I glanced at char and she looked sadly at me. “That Doctor is done for!”

“You said no three times, I think it’s clear what you really mean.” I felt sick. “You knew there was a chance it may not work.” I turned my head and stared back at the screen. “Twins?” I couldn’t believe it. No wonder I was sick and gaining weight fast.

“Twins, you’re still quite early and your rate of miscarriage is extremely high. I’d like to see you each week until you’re three months, just to be safe. Call if you feel unwell at anytime.”

“She has been feeling extremely unwell she throws up all the time!” I yelled still upset with how things were going. God twins!

“Stop yelling.” I whispered, sitting up. “Could I have a photo? Of the ultrasound.”

“Of course. I will be right back soon.” She smiled, darting out of the room.

I fixed my top and sat back in the chair “you didn’t even look.. you just ranted and raved about twins and you know how that looks? Like you couldn’t be more angrier about this. I’m so upset, I knew it wouldn’t be the same. I knew it!”

I looked at her. I hurt her again. Fuck. “It’s a lot to take in char I’m so sorry for acting like this it’s just what if something happens to you or the babies? I’m so fucking worried.”

“oh don’t even use that excuse. You’re not worried about me or them, you’re panicking because I’m pregnant with twins and you’re yelling about a doctor who fucked up the surgery. You wouldn’t be so wild if you wanted another baby, which this reaction tells me clearly you don’t.” I snapped, brushing a hand through my hair as the nurse came back in. She handed the photo in an envelope and I passed it to him “since you didn’t see them. Here!”

I was so angry I understand my reaction wasn’t the one it should have been but for her to tell me I don’t want them made me even more pissed. I took the envelope and watched her walk out to schedule her next appointment. I opened it and there they were. I sat down as a few tears came down. I wa worried about her and I was worried about these two.

The doctor came back into the room closing the door behind himself and looked at Tanner “just a quick work before you leave, and before your wife comes back.. I’m worried about her weight, she seems to be weighing a lot less than she should be. I understand morning sickness doesn’t help, but she needs to be eating double her daily intake to keep well during this pregnancy.” He said

I looked at him. “Thank you for tell me you should tell her as well right now she is upset with me and probably won’t listen to me.” I said as the door opened and I wiped my face. She looked so sad.

“Ahh Charlotte, I was just explaining to your husband that you need to put on some more weight. You’re lighter than when you first came to me oregnant all those years ago.” He smiled.

I nodded, not feeling too well “I’ll try and eat some more then” I squeezed tanners shoulder “I’m ready, I have to come. Back weekly.”

I nodded. “Okay, how about we stop for all your favorites before heading home or maybe I can have it all ordered to the house if you’d like.”

“Oh, well I’ll try keep it down. Icecream and potato and gravy does sound pretty good right now though.”. I managed a smile. Once in the car I burst into tears. “Twins!” I sobbed

I looked over at her and pulled her to me. I didn’t know what to say that wouldn’t upset her more so I held her hernand let her cry. After a while I pulled back and kissed her nose. “Let go load up on ice cream, potatoes and some gravy!”

“Ok.” I agreed pulling away with a sniff. “Will you come to bed with me? I can’t eat all that on my own.” There was no way. “I love you.” I reached over squeezing his hand

I squeezed back. “I love you tom and I will do whatever you want. The little ones should be sleeing when we get home so we can benge in bed.

“I just need you to hold me and say everything is going to be alright because I am panicking on the inside and full of worry” I admitted. “I know it’s a shock, but we can make this work”

I nodded. “Of course we can.” I was so worried. “The Doctor is really concerned about you as am I. I’m here for you you aren’t alone and I’m so sorry I made you feel that way.”

“You’re mad because you didn’t expect this. It’s fine. But there’s nothing we can do right now. Just take it a day at a time and enjoy these moments.” I leant over and kissed him “it will be ok.”

She was taking this better than I thought she was amazing I was so pissed and she was just taking it. “I love you so much char.”
