Sitting up in bed, the doctor with his fingers inside me smiled “You’re almost ready to start pushing, two centimetres to go.” I looked at Gunnar, and held his hand “I need the drugs. I want the drugs! The spine thing, give me that!” The midwife smiled, laughing “oh dear, you’re too far dilated to have that. You can do this, you’re strong and it will be all over before you know it.”

Are they getting divorced?” I cried out as the doctors told me it was time. I looked at Gunnar with worry and then put all my focus onto my baby, screaming as I pushed her out within four pushes and she was naked, screaming and on my chest as I fell back exhausted.
